Cable kickback: controlled execution

Avoid turning the hip extension into a body swing.

Direct answer: The kick in the pulley works a hip extension against resistance. Organize support, fixing the anklet and amplitude that you control. A load that requires trunk thrust can make it difficult to perform and record the desired effort.

Prepare the device

Check the accessory and the height of the pulley, respecting the instructions of the equipment. Choose where to support the hands without blocking the passage. The body needs to be stable before starting; if the cable pulls you forward, review the load and positioning.

Maintain repeatable movement

Move the leg within a controlled range and return without releasing the resistance. Climbing up more and more using the lumbar does not automatically represent a better repetition. A lateral video allows you to observe if the position changes when the sets becomes difficult.

Insert as part of program

Exercise can complement more demanding hip movements, as the goal is. It does not need to appear in all workouts. The choice should consider available time, ability to progress and other exercises of the week.

What to record and discuss

  1. Check out the fixation and the path of the cable.
  2. Use a charge that allows you to control the trunk.
  3. Register amplitude and repetitions on each side.

Questions about this topic

Do I have to throw my leg as high as I can?
The useful amplitude is the one you control according to orientation. Greater height with compensation changes movement.
Cable kickback replaces all gluteal training?
A program needs to consider different movements and the whole body. The decision should not depend on a single exercise.
